Butterfly Effect

Selected to commission a work for Creative.NYC’s inaugural gallery with a theme of Vice & Virtue, Bex was assigned Wrath and Patience as her inspiration.

“Butterfly Effect” was her contemplative abstract expressionist result.

Inspired by the phases of the monarch butterfly, from birth to glory, this work is a depiction of the conflict between wrath and patience. Prismatic hues halo a golden orange, applied with acrylics and pastels. The effect is bold yet diaphanous.

We must wait, childlike, in the Chrysalis. Humble and accepting of what cannot be changed, but hopeful in the vision of a promised future. Patience helps us persist amidst the wrath of a harsh and broken world - we wait upon the hope of perfect beauty in eternal fullness to come.

Upon exhibition, Bex was honored to receive multiple inquiries from potential buyers who noted the apparent joy encapsulated in the painting’s bold yet peaceful strokes.

It found its home in Texas and was shipped out in the weeks following - migrating South to its final home.
